Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul today said the case filed over the killing of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi will be tried at a Speedy Trial Tribunal.

"The trial will be completed within a maximum of 90 days of receiving the police report, in line with Section 10 of the Speedy Trial Tribunal Act, 2002," he said in a post on his verified Facebook account this noon.

Earlier, on December 20, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Siddiq Azad ordered the inclusion of Section 302 (murder) of the Penal Code in the case filed over the attempted killing of Sharif Osman Hadi, turning it into a murder case following his death on December 18.

Investigating officer of the Detective Branch (DB) of police, Inspector
Foysal Ahmed, filed the plea before the court.

Sharif Osman Hadi, an independent parliamentary candidate for Dhaka-8 and spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho, was shot on December 12 in the capital's Bijoynagar Box Culvert area.

According to the case statement, two assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire on Hadi while he was travelling in a battery-run rickshaw and then fled the scene.

Inqilab Moncho member secretary Abdullah Al Zaber filed the case with Paltan Model Police Station on December 14.
