Seven motorcycle thieves arrested in Faridpur

Faridpur police have arrested seven members of a professional motorcycle theft gang following a series of recent thefts in various parts of Faridpur Sadar upazila.

The arrests came after several cases were filed regarding stolen motorcycles in the town. A night-long operation on Saturday led to the capture of the suspects, and two stolen motorcycles were recovered. 

Sub-Inspector Nur Hossain, who led the operation, said, “The seven arrested are professional thieves who regularly steal motorcycles and auto-rickshaws. They possess special keys that enable them to start any motorcycle. Many of them had been arrested previously but were released on bail, only to commit further thefts.”

The arrested individuals are Tamim Molla (24) of Alipur Gorosthan area, Anik Islam (25) of Alipur Kanai Matubber’s Mor, Ratul Sheikh (24) of the same area, Lion Sheikh (26) of Char Madhabdya Union, Siddiq Sardar (42) of Shovarampur area, Enamul (28) of Ibrahimdi village, and Sabbir Hossain of Nadarghati police station in Narail district.

Sadar police station officer-in-charge Shahidul Islam added, “Several others are involved in this gang. They possess at least one more stolen motorcycle. Efforts to arrest them are ongoing.”
