Two traders killed in motorcycle crash in Kurigram

Two businessmen were killed in a road accident in Bhurungamari upazila of Kurigram district, said police on Friday morning.

The accident happened late Thursday on Bhurungamari-Kurigram regional road near Joymoni Hatt Shaheed Samad Technical College.

The deceased were Rashidul Islam, son of Abul Gafur, and Kamal Hossain Khokan, 40, son of Abul Fazal Sarkar,l. Both hailed from Sapara village under Sadar union of the upazila.

Of them, Khokan was an import-export trader and Rashidul was engaged in the rice business.

Khokan’s relative Bablu Mia said the duo was heading towards Bhurungamari from Rangpur after completing their work on Thursday night.

He said they were on a motorcycle when the accident happened around 2am. Rashidul died on the spot while Khokhan succumbed to his injuries on way to a hospital, he said.

Bhurungamari police station’s Officer-in-Charge Monirul Islam said the dead and the injured were lying on the road side.

He said it was not known how the accident occurred.
