Rapist gets life-term jail in Ctg

A court here today convicted a man of life-term imprisonment for raping a minor girl in the city's Panchliash area six years back.

Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-7, Begum Ferdouse Ara passed the judgment convicting Mustafizur Rahman Babu, 24, hailed from Mymensingh district.

The court also fined the convict Tk one lakh, in default, he will have to suffer six months more in jail.

According to the prosecution, Mustafizur raped an 11-year-old madrasa girl in the Panchliash area on December 7 in 2019.
Later, victim's father filed a rape case against three persons with Panchliash thana on November 11.

Police submitted the charge sheet before the court on December 31, while the court framed charges on November 11 in 2020.

The court today after examining eight prosecution witnesses out of 11 awarded the judgment.
