Khalid stresses on reaching religious values to doorsteps of people through books


Religious Affairs Adviser Dr A F M Khalid Hossain today underscored the need for reaching healthy culture and religious values to the doorsteps of people through books.
“We want to reach a healthy culture and religious values to the doorsteps of people through books…Books are the powerhouse of knowledge. Books play a crucial role for enlightening people,” he said.
The adviser made the remarks while inaugurating the Islamic Book Fair organized at the east part of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in observance of Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH) this evening.
Secretary to the Ministry of Religious Affairs AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik spoke as the special guest on the occasion with Islamic Foundation Director General and Senior District and Sessions Judge A. Salam Khan in the chair.
Egyptian Ambassador to Bangladesh Omar Mohie Eldin Ahmed Fahmy also addressed the event while Islamic Foundation Secretary Mohammad Ismail Hossain delivered the address of welcome.
According to the fair-organizers, the Islamic Book Fair is being held at the southern and eastern sides of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and will continue from today to October 12.
The fair will remain open to the public from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm. On holidays, the fair will remain open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
