Two youths suffer bullet injuries in Dhaka’s Shahjahanpur over alleged drug dispute

Two young men sustained bullet injuries on Thursday night in the Jhilpar area under Shahjahanpur Police Station in the capital, reportedly over a dispute related to drug dealing.
The incident occurred around 8:15pm.
The victims — both aged 24 — were rescued with bullet wounds and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at approximately 11:15pm.
One of the injured, Bishal, is a Laguna driver by profession and the son of Nasir Uddin Howlader from Gopalnagar village in Cumilla’s Brahmanpara upazila.
The other victim, Robin, is the son of Kamal from the Surganj area under Nawabganj Police Station in Dhaka district. He resides in the Bagicha area of Shahjahanpur.
Mohsin Talukder, sub-inspector (SI) of Shahjahanpur Police Station, said that an argument had broken out between Robin and a known drug dealer named Shanto over drug-related issues.
“At one point during the altercation, Shanto pulled out a pistol and shot Robin in the left side of his abdomen. Bishal, who happened to be standing nearby, was also shot in the right side of his abdomen,” SI Mohsin said.
Following the shooting, Shanto fled the scene.
The victims were rushed to DMCH where they are now undergoing treatment.
Efforts are underway to arrest the accused, and further investigation is ongoing, said the SI.
