Gold price rises by Tk 1470 per bhori

The price of gold has been increased again in the domestic market, with Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) hiking the rate by Tk 1470 per bhori (11.664 grams).
With the latest adjustment, the price of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 175788 per bhori, effective from Tuesday, according to a BAJUS press release issued on Monday night.
The association said the hike was necessary as the price of pure gold (tejobi gold) has gone up in the local market.
As per the new rate, 21-carat gold will cost Tk 167798 per bhori, 18-carat Tk 143829, while the traditional method gold has been priced at Tk 119043 per bhori.
BAJUS further noted that buyers will have to pay an additional 5% VAT fixed by the government, along with a minimum making charge of 6% set by the association.
The making cost may vary depending on the design and quality of the ornaments.
Earlier, on August 30, BAJUS last revised the prices, raising the rate of 22-carat gold by Tk 1667 per bhori to Tk 174318.
