Bangladesh beat Kazakhstan 5-1 in Asia Cup Hockey


Bangladesh posted a comfortable 5-1 goals victory over Kazakhstan in the fifth-eighth place semi-finals of the Hero Men's Asia Cup Hockey held at Bihar Sports University Hockey Stadium in Rajgir, India today (Thursday).
Bangladesh will now meet Japan in the fifth and sixth place-deciding match scheduled to be held on Sunday (Sept 7) at the same venue.
Ashraful Islam gave Bangladesh a deserving lead in the first quarter converting a penalty corner in the 10th minute. He doubled the lead in the second quarter converting a penalty stroke in the 23rd minute of the match.
Roman Sarkar further widened the margin with a field goal in the 28th minute and he scored his second and fourth goal for Bangladesh converting a penalty corner in the 33d minute.
Tayab Ali made the score line 5-0 for Bangladesh with a field goal in the 34th minute while Aitkaliyev reduced the margin for Kazakhstan scoring a field goal in the 38th minute.
Earlier, Bangladesh was eliminated from the tournament race to finish third position in the group B with three points.
Bangladesh went down to a 4-1 goals lose to Malaysia in their group opening match but beat Chinese Taipei by 8-3 goals in the second match.
The boys in red and green suffered a 5-1 goals defeat five times champions South Korea in their ultimate match of the group.
