Mbappe double, Mastantuono’s first goal power Real Madrid past Levante

Real Madrid maintained their flawless start to the season with a commanding 4-1 win over Levante at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia on Tuesday.

Madrid’s attacking trio were all on target as Kylian Mbappe netted twice, Vinicius Junior scored a stunning opener, and Franco Mastantuono registered his maiden goal for the club.

Vinicius set the tone in the 28th minute with a brilliant outside-foot strike before assisting Mastantuono 10 minutes later. The 16-year-old Argentine made no mistake from a tight angle to make it 2-0.

Levante threatened a comeback early in the second half when Etta Eyong headed home in the 54th minute. But Madrid quickly restored control. Mbappe scored his first of the night in the 63rd minute, once again set up by Vinicius.

Just two minutes later, Levante conceded a penalty through a defensive lapse. Mbappe calmly converted with a Panenka to seal the victory.

The result leaves Xabi Alonso’s men on top of the La Liga table with 18 points from six matches, five clear of Barcelona, who face Real Oviedo on Thursday. Levante remain in 16th with just four points.

After the match, Alonso praised his team’s effort but stressed it was only the beginning. “We’re still in the building phase. It’s been 51 days, and there’s a lot of work ahead. But we’re laying the foundation to compete strongly in La Liga, the Champions League, and the Copa del Rey,” he said.

“There are still areas to improve, but the direction is good—not only because of the results but also the way we’re playing,” he added, urging his side to keep their momentum going.

Madrid now turn their focus to the Madrid derby on Saturday.
