BPL Football: Rakib's hattrick guides Bashundhara Kings to 7-2 win over Youngmen's


A brilliant hattrick by Rakib Hossain guided five times champions Bashundhara Kings to advance to the 2nd slot in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League Football 2024- 25 outplaying Youngmen's Club Fakirerpool by 7-2 goals at the Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur on Tuesday.
With the day's feat, the Kings advance to the 2nd slot in the 10-team league toppling Dhaka Abahani Limited securing 28 points from 16 matches by virtue of better goal difference
Six times champions Dhaka Abahani went down to the 3rd slot due to poor goal differences despite of collecting 28 points from 15 matches, playing one match less than the Kings
In the day's match, national forward Rakib Hossain made a hattrick scoring four goals in the 22nd, 68th, 77th and 88th minutes while Uzbekistan midfielder Asror Gafurov, Foysal Ahmed Fahim and Rafiqul Islam scored one each for the Kings in the 36th, 38th and 47th minutes respectively.
In the day's other match, Brothers Union Club outplayed Dhaka Wanderers Club by 5-0 goals at the FL Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Tuesday.
Two Gambian booters Zakaria Darboe and Assan Njie struck twice each while Nigerian booter Sunday Udoh netted the remaining goal for the Gopibagh outfit Brothers.
The day's other match between newly crowned Dhaka Mohammedan SC and the old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj MFS was abandoned at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla Tuesday afternoon
The match will be played on Wednesday at 1pm at the same venue.
