Liton yet to get his club in DPL

Liton Das, a leading cricketer of the country, is yet to find a new team in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) at the end of the second day of the Inter club players transfer.
Liton, who was axed from the Bangladesh's Champions Trophy squad following a poor run of form in ODI cricket, came to the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) office on the first day of the players' transfers and collected his token.
However, the cricketer, who played for Abahani in the last season, is yet to sign a contract with any club so far. Liton's name is not in the list of 165 cricketers, who transferred teams in two days, provided by the CCDM this evening.
However, Liton's chance of playing in the DPL is not over yet. CCDM member secretary Sajjad Hossain told the reporters that since Liton has taken his token, he can now choose his own club whenever he wants.
However, several cricketers said that the remuneration of cricketers in this year's DPL is reduced by half or more than the last time.
"In the end, cricketers play for money. When it decreased from every tournament, of course it is a sad thing," said Taijul Islam, who signed to play for Mohammedan.
"Not only national cricketers, there are many cricketers, who have to support their families by playing domestic cricket. It becomes very difficult for them," he added.
Mohammad Mithun, who signed up for Prime Bank Cricket Club, echoed Taijul 'No matter how much you talk about the country's context or try to make excuses, but at the end of the day, when you work, you expect a proper salary."
Our profession is cricket. I hope to improve from where I left off last year, he said.
"But now the salaries of all cricketers have decreased and it has decreased by a large amount, which, we as professional cricketers, do not expect."
Meanwhile, Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim were recruited by Mohammedan on day 2 of the players' transfer. Legends of Rupganj has formed a young team with Afif Hossain, Akbar Ali, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
On day 1, Mohammad Saifuddin who played for Abahani Limited in the last six seasons was recruited by Mohammedan.
Imrul Kayes had left Mohammedan to join Agrani Bank, Anamul Haque Bijoy found his new address in Gazi Group Cricketers, Soumya Sarkar joined Legends of Rupganj on day 1. Sabbir Rahman has left Prime Bank for Partex Sporting Club. Shamim Hossain Patwary has registered for Prime Bank from Rupganj.
A total of 12 will take part in the biggest and oldest club cricket event in the country, starting from March 3.
