Irish women's team arrive in Dhaka
The Ireland Women's team arrived in Dhaka today to play a bilateral series against Bangladesh.
During the tour, the Irish Women's team would play three ODIs, which are the part of the ICC ODI Super League and three T20 Internationals.
The three ODIs are crucial for Bangladesh to make a direct entry to the ICC ODI World Cup to be held in India next year.
Bangladesh in fact would have to win their remaining six matches (three against Ireland and three against West Indies) for a direct qualification to the World Cup. They will start their mission by trying to win all three matches against Ireland.
"We will have some advantage because we'll start from home. At this moment, we are not thinking about all six matches. The focus will be on Ireland series for the time being. We need to win all of these three matches first. This is our first target," Women's Wing head Habibul Bashar Sumon said a few days ago.
"We have already started our preparation for the series. The girls have been playing consistently. In this period, we have made significant progress. Girls are quite upbeat now," he said.
The three ODIs will be played in Mirpur on November 27, November 30 and December 2, while the T20Is will take place in Sylhet on December 5, 7 and 9.
