57 more stranded Bangladeshis return from Lebanon

A total of 57 stranded Bangladeshi nationals were repatriated from Lebanon on Thursday, with the full cost covered by the government.

The Qatar Airways flight landed at 9:15 am at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), according to a foreign ministry press release.

The repatriation was facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Beirut, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

So far, a total of 1,199 Bangladeshi citizens have been repatriated from Lebanon via 18 flights.

Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, and IOM welcomed the returnees at the airport.

IOM provided each returnee with TK 5,000 as pocket money, along with food supplies and basic medical care.

Ministry officials spoke with the returnees about the horrors of the ongoing conflict and inquired about their well-being.

One Bangladeshi national has reportedly died in a bombing incident during the conflict.

The government has assured that all Bangladeshi expatriates in Lebanon who wish to return home will be repatriated at government expense.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut continues to work to ensure the safe return of expatriates and the safety of those who wish to remain in Lebanon.
