Tarique Rahman urges BNP men to follow party decisions

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today called upon the party leaders and activists to respect party decisions and work in accordance with those decisions for the benefit of the nation.
He said, "BNP is one of the largest political parties in the country. During the autocratic regime of the Awami League, more than five million of our activists had false cases filed against them. It's normal for different activists to have different opinions but when a decision is made by the party, our duty is to stand by that decision."
Tarique Rahman made the remarks while addressing virtually as the chief guest the triennial council of the Kishoreganj District unit of BNP at the Old Stadium in the town.
"We are all activists of the sheaf of paddy (Dhaner Shish) and the symbol of nationalist forces. We are not individuals' activists. Therefore, when a decision is made by the sheaf of paddy, it is the responsibility of each of us to implement that decision at any cost," he added.
Mentioning that the people of Bangladesh have been fighting for their democratic rights for the past 16 years, Tarique Rahman said, "The people of Bangladesh believe in democracy. Political parties have united the people and fought against autocracy for the past 16 years to regain their political rights."
He pointed out that BNP wants to work for the people of the country. "In the reform commission, various political parties in Bangladesh have presented their opinions on different issues. BNP has also given its opinion. On some issues, we might have differences of opinion with others. However, on the fundamental issues of the political rights of the people of Bangladesh, the right to vote, their security and the right to live by ensuring employment opportunities, BNP has no objection or disagreement with anyone," he said.
The Acting Chairman also mentioned that BNP had been advocating for reforms for more than two and a half years. "The reform commission of the interim government has made some reform proposals, and approximately 95% of these proposals were presented by BNP to the people of the country over two and a half years ago."
Tarique Rahman urged everyone to remain united, saying, "We must remain united at any cost. There is no alternative. The dictator's departure took place through escape, but an invisible force is slowly rising. I have mentioned this on various occasions. Everyone must be vigilant about this."
District BNP President Md. Shariful Alam presided over the programme while General Secretary Md. Mazharul Islam moderated it.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir inaugurated the conference while Chairperson's Advisor Freedom Fighter Abdus Salam was the special guest and Joint Secretary General Habib Un-Nabi Khan Sohel spoke as the main speaker.
BNP leaders and activists gathered at the stadium from different upazilas of the district in processions since morning. The conference began in a festive atmosphere with the presence of thousands of workers.
