Mirza Fakhrul calls for holding early election to end instability

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said the country's people are in a state of instability, calling for ending this instability through holding early election.

He made the call while addressing a huge public rally titled "Implementation of BNP's 31-point agenda to repair the state" at Laksham Stadium in Cumilla as the chief guest.

The BNP Secretary General told a political party without mentioning name that "Don't say anything that will make the country unstable again".

He said many are talking about postponing the national elections by speaking about reforms, but how many common people understand about reforms? "People want two meals a day, a place to sleep, medical treatment, education and peace. These basic rights mean the reforms to the people," he added.

Mirza Fakhrul said, "Please don't destabilize the country anymore, don't create anarchy. There are many conspiracies being hatched against the country".

Mentioning that Sheikh Hasina is conspiring staying in Delhi, he said there is no way to deny that India is a big neighbor, but if India thinks Awami League is its big friend, then it will be wrong, and they will not get the people of Bangladesh closer to them because Awami League is a hated political party in this country.

Recently it is seen on Facebook and YouTube that some people are doing all the movement sitting abroad, he said, adding that many things can be written and said sitting abroad, but the most important is to protest in hostile conditions on the soil of the country.

At that time, the BNP Secretary General extended gratitude to Bangladesh Army for taking a stand for the people in the July Revolution.

"Effort is there to destabilize the country again. We want this interim government becomes successful because it has been formed in exchange for the blood of the students and people," he noted.

He observed "Bangladesh is going through a transitional period. Today, fascism has destroyed everything. We have expelled the fascists from here with the cooperation of the students. Now, a government has been established."

He continued, "If we don't support this government, it will not be able to work. That is why we're supporting it."

Mentioning that people are with an elected government, Mirza Fakhrul said, "Why are we talking about votes? Because, the people are with the elected government and an unelected government doesn't get people's support. So, complete the necessary reforms as soon as possible and hold elections."

The top BNP said, "We liberated the country in 1971, and later the Awami League had been failed to give anything good. It's (Mujib's) daughter has destroyed the parliament, the judiciary, the electoral system, the right to vote, and the economy".

To restore the country as a healthy state, he said, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has given the slogans "Take back Bangladesh" and "The decision will be made on the streets".

"The decision has been made on the streets. Sheikh Hasina has fled," he said.

Mirza Fakhrul said BNP leaders and activists have been endured enormous torture in this Laksam as Minister Tajul Islam emerged in an awful appearance and he didn't allow anyone from BNP to enter the area. "He (Tajul) was the terror of Laksam. Where is he now?"

Highlighting that numerous leaders and activists of BNP, including former MPs, have been disappeared across the country during the fascist regime, he said cases have been filed against six million leaders and activists of them and in the July Revolution, 2,000 people were also shot dead like birds.

"We respect those martyrs, we respect Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and we pay tribute to the mother of democracy," he said.

The BNP Secretary General said, "We don't want to create any division among ourselves. No one should try to create any division. Don't mislead the country unnecessarily. Just as 2024 is memorable for us, (19)71 is also memorable. No one should talk sarcastically about 71."

The rally, organized jointly by Laksam Upazila, Pourasava and Manoharganj Upazila BNP, was presided over by BNP's Industrial Affairs Secretary Md. Abul Kalam.

At the outset, 31 pigeons, a symbol of peace, were released to welcome the 31-point of BNP.

Manoharganj Upazila Convener Shah Sultan Khokon, Laksam Upazila Member Secretary Abdur Rahman Badal and Poura Member Secretary Belal Rahman jointly moderated the rally.
