DMP Commissioner orders full impartiality, stricter crime control ahead of polls

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali directed all members of the force to maintain cent percent impartiality in the upcoming national elections, stressing sincerity, professionalism and strict neutrality in performing their duties.

He made the instruction while presiding over the DMP's monthly crime review meeting for November 2025, held at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh today.

Addressing newly appointed officers-in-charge (OCs) of various police stations, the Commissioner urged them to thoroughly understand the crime landscape of their respective areas.

He has emphasized quick identification and arrest of habitual offenders to maintain law and order.

Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Md. Sarwar announced that patrol activities would be intensified across all police stations, with new CCTV installations in key locations to curb crime.

He also encouraged the use of government-issued motorcycles to enhance patrolling.

Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam instructed new DCs and OCs to analyze and act according to the crime patterns of each station.

He called for greater responsibility in case disposals and warrant executions.

Islam further stressed increased identity verification during domestic worker hiring and raising public awareness through community and beat policing.

He also ordered heightened alertness ahead of Martyred Intellectuals Day and Victory Day.

During the meeting, Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Md. Faruk Hossain presented the detailed crime statistics for November 2025, covering robbery, theft, murder, road accidents, women and child abuse, drug and arms recoveries, and other incidents.

Recognition awards were also presented to DMP officers of various ranks for outstanding performance in maintaining law and order, crime control, and ensuring public safety in Dhaka.

The meeting was attended by senior officers including Additional Police Commissioners Md. Masud Karim (CTTC), Md. Shafiqul Islam BPM, PPM (DB), Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali (Logistics, Finance and Procurement), along with Joint Police Commissioners, Deputy Police Commissioners, OCs of all DMP police stations, and officers of multiple ranks.
