Train accident in Rajshahi, two coaches off track

A train accident occurred at Rajshahi Railway Station on Tuesday evening after the Dhalarchar Express collided with a stationary train on an adjacent track.

The incident took place around 5:45 pm. The Dhalarchar Express operates between Rajshahi and Dhalarchar station in Pabna.

Eyewitnesses said the train had just departed from Rajshahi station for Dhalarchar when it struck a parked train on the next line. Two coaches of the Dhalarchar Express were derailed following the collision, sparking panic among passengers.

Local residents and railway police immediately began rescue operations. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Farid Ahmed, General Manager of Bangladesh Railway (West Zone), confirmed the incident and said the Dhalarchar Express continued its journey toward Pabna, leaving behind the two derailed coaches.

“Rescue workers are now working to recover the derailed coaches. Train movement on all routes to and from Rajshahi remains normal,” he added.
