Government committed to free, fair and neutral February election: Home Adviser

Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said the government is determined to ensure that the upcoming February elections are free, fair, and neutral.

He made the remarks on Friday afternoon while attending the Kethin Chibardan festival at Bodhigyan Bhavana (Buddhist Vihara) on Bangabandhu Road in Ashulia, Savar, and speaking with journalists.

The Home Affairs Adviser also noted that law and order in the country has improved, a fact confirmed by a journalist from Dhaka.

Regarding the Safe Exit proposal, he said that people may have many opinions, but questions cannot be stopped.

The event was presided over by Ratanashree Mahathera, vice-president of the Bangladesh Bauddha Bhikkhu Mahasabha, and attended by several dignitaries including Shubhashish Chakma, MD of AES; Aktar Hossain Rana, Chairman of Ashulia Alif Garments; Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua; retired Lt. Colonel Didarul Alam, Bir; Mohammad Tanvir Iqbal, former Additional Secretary Prashanta Bhushan Barua; and Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner in Dhaka, Dharmapala Virakkod, among others.
