Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam on Thursday called on Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to ensure neutrality and inclusivity in organising the upcoming return of 'Notun Kuri'- the nationwide talent hunt.
He made the remarks during a virtual meeting with divisional commissioners and DCs held from the Secretariat.
Highlighting the purpose of the long-awaited revival of 'Notun Kuri', Adviser Mahfuj said the competition aims to spark a cultural awakening among the new generation.
Emphasising the importance of identifying genuine talent at the grassroots level, he said, “If the most talented children and adolescents are not selected from the local level, it will impact the quality of the Dhaka phase.”
He stressed that ensuring transparency, impartiality, and inclusivity in the selection process would have a positive influence on the country’s cultural landscape.
The district administration plays a key role in regional selections, while the divisional administration is responsible for the divisional phase, he added. “Judging must be entirely impartial.”
The adviser also urged the DCs to ensure participation from children and adolescents of all communities, regardless of religion or ethnicity.
Describing 'Notun Kuri' as a significant platform in the cultural arena, he said the competition must be vibrant and festive. “To achieve this, we need to increase the number of participants,” he noted.
Mahfuj also encouraged wider promotion of the competition through social media and other platforms to inspire greater participation among children and adolescents.
DCs from Pirojpur, Jhalakathi, Joypurhat, Meherpur, and Chattogram spoke at the meeting and shared updates on preparations in their respective districts.
They also expressed their sincerity to successfully organize the competition.
BTV Director General Md. Mahbubul Alam and senior officials of the ministry were also present.
