Janaza of firefighter Nayan held
The namaz-e-janaza of firefighter Sohanur Zaman Nayan (24) was held on the premises of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters this afternoon.
Nayan succumbed to his injuries after being struck by a truck during efforts to extinguish a devastating fire broke out in building No. 7 at the Secretariat here around 1:52 am today.
Home Adviser Lt. General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Chief Advisor’s Special Assistant Md Khoda Baksh Chowdhury, Director General of Department of Fire Service and Civil Defence Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal along with ministry and department officials joined the namaz-e-janaza.
Earlier, the adviser paid glowing tribute to late firefighter Nayan by placing a floral wreath at his coffin. A guard of honour was turned out by a group of smart firefighters.
A brief life sketch of firefighter Nayan was read out, while two relatives delivered short speeches.
Kazi Sharif Ullah, religious teacher of fire service and civil defence department, conducted the namaz-e-janaza and offered dua.
An ambulance carrying the body with officers and colleagues of Nayan left for Atpania village, under Mithapukur Thana in Rangpur district after the janaza.
He will be buried at his village.
