HC issues rule on Tk 1.5 crore compensation to families of Dhaleswari Toll Plaza victims

The High Court on Monday issued a rule asking the government to explain as to why directives should not be given to provide Tk 1.5 crore as compensation to the family members of six people who died in a road crash at Dhaleswari Toll Plaza on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway last year.

The HC bench of Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque and Justice Aynun Nahar Siddiqua issued the rule after hearing a writ petition.

Advocate Fazlur Rahman, Advocate Shamsur Rahman Badal, Advocate Ripon Chowdhury and Advocate Abdur Razzak stood for the writ petitioner.

Six people were killed when a bus hit a private car, motorbike and a microbus from behind at Dhaleswari Toll Plaza on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway on December 27, 2024.

Later, a writ petition was filed seeking compensation.
