Over Tk 119cr Indian drugs destroyed in Jhenaidah


Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has destroyed huge quantities of smuggled Indian drugs worth Taka 119.64 crore on the premises of BGB-58 camp in the district.
The destruction took place at the 58 BGB headquarters in Maheshpur of the district around 9.30am today.
Jashore Region Commander of the BGB Brigadier General Humayun Kabir attended the programme as the chief guest while its Kushtia Sector Commander Lieutenant Colonel Ahsan Habib was present as special guest.
Commanding Officer of BGB Maheshpur 58-Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Rafiqul Alam gave welcome address at the function.
Executive Magistrate of the district, officials from Jenaidah and Chuadanga district administrations and journalists from different print, electronic and online media attended, among others, at the drugs destruction programme.
"During this time, at least 12 types of Indian drugs have been destroyed. The total value of the seized drugs is Taka 119,64,83,202," the Commanding Officer said.
Of the destroyed drugs, 25,813 bottles of phensedyl, 38,980 bottles of liquors, 130 kilograms (Kg) of ganjas, 65,174 pieces of Yaba tablets, 37-kg heroin, 79-kg cocaine, 7-kg of Crystal Meth Ice, 29 bottles of LLD, 21,316 pieces of Viagra tablets, 30,070 pieces of Tapentadol tablets, 9,845 pieces of Indian and 9,960 pieces of Bangladeshi medicines.
The BGB has recovered these drugs in the last 15 months between the period of February, 2024 to April 30, 2025 while conducting different drives at Maheshpur and Jibannagar Border areas.
