9 Bangladeshis held while crossing Benapole border illegally from India

Border Guard Bangladesh detained nine Bangladeshis, including women and children, while they allegedly were trying to intrude into the country from India through Benapole border on Monday afternoon.

The detainees include three men, four women and two children.

They are Milon Molla, 27, Saidul Islam, 27, Shimul Hossain, 32, Karimon Bibi, 50, Jannat, 24, Bannya Khatun, 22, Shohagi, 2, Halima Khatun, 4, and Sowaifa, 60, hailing from Narail and Jashore districts.

The arrests were made in the Jellepara outpost area of Dhanaykhola border under Benapole, said Subedar Abdul Gani, commander of the BGB camp there. The detainees include three men, four women, and two children.

Subedar Abdul Gani, commandant of the BGB-49 in Jashore, said a BGB patrol team from Jellepara post detained them while they were entering Bangladesh illegally from India.

They were later handed over to Benapole port police station after a case was filed against them, he added.
