Mayor Shahadat for continuing commodity market monitoring

City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain and Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam today visited the market in the city’s Khatunganj as part of the corporation’s move to keep the prices of goods stable.
Criticizing a section of traders for trying to hefty profits, the mayor said traders want to become rich overnight.
“They go crazy to earn a whole year's income in one month during Ramadan. That is why we are monitoring the market. We will continue monitoring,” he said while exchanging views with journalists after visiting Khatunganj, the largest wholesale market in the city this afternoon.
The city mayor said administration and City Corporation are in a strict position to bring stability in the market.
“In Muslim countries around the world, during Ramadan, goods are sold at subsidized rates. But some unscrupulous businessmen find opportunities here try to earn more money in this month,” he added.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Kamruzzaman, Additional District Magistrate Syed Mahbubul Haque, Assistant Commissioners Md. Israfil Jahan, Shakib Shahriar, Rayyan Ferdous, Farzana Rahman Meem, Asif Jahan Sikder, Sumon Mondal Apu, Executive Magistrate Masuma Akhter Kona and Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md.
