Ex-minister Maya’s Chandpur house set on fire
Miscreants set the village home of former minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya in Chandpur on fire on Saturday night.
Inspector Nurul Karim, in-charge of Matlab North Fire Service and Civil Defense, said the fire broke out at the ground floor of the two buildings in Mohonpur under Uttor Matlab upazila around 11 pm and spread soon.
On information, a firefighting unit with the help of army and police brought the fire under control.
Pradeep, officer-in-charge of Uttor Matlab Police Station, said a process is on to take legal steps in this connection.
The miscreants also ransacked the two buildings and looted valuables.
Former senior vice president of upazila unit BNP Sarwar Majumdar condemned the fire incident.
Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, presidium member of Awami League has been on the run since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5.
He is wanted in different cases filed with Chandpur, Narayanganj and Dhaka police stations.
