Evercare Hospital Dhaka Hosts First-Ever World Radiotherapy Awareness Day
Evercare Hospital Dhaka observed the first-ever World Radiotherapy Awareness Day (WRAD), which was observed globally on 7 September 2025. This international observance, first introduced at London Global Cancer Week in 2024 and finalized in early 2025, aims to raise awareness about the essential role of radiotherapy in cancer treatment, encourage access to care, and address misconceptions surrounding radiation therapy.
The event highlighted the importance of radiotherapy in cancer management and aimed to raise awareness among healthcare professionals and the community about its life-saving role. The program was attended by senior officials, oncologists, and medical experts of Evercare Hospital Dhaka, including Dr. Ratnadeep Chaskar, CEO & Managing Director, Evercare Hospitals, Bangladesh. The discussion focused on advancements in radiotherapy, patient access, and breaking misconceptions surrounding radiation treatment.Sharing his thoughts, Dr. Arif Mahmud, Group Medical Director, Evercare Hospitals, Bangladesh, said, "World Radiotherapy Awareness Day is a landmark occasion in cancer care.
Radiotherapy is a powerful tool in the fight against cancer. Only through increased awareness can patients fully benefit from its life-saving potential."
Dr. Biswajit Bhattacharjee, Senior Consultant & Coordinator, Radiation Oncology, Evercare Hospital Dhaka, emphasized the impact of radiotherapy in cancer care, stating, "Nearly half of all cancer patients require radiotherapy at some stage of their treatment, making it an integral part of modern oncology. It is our responsibility not only to raise awareness about this treatment but also to ensure it reaches everyone who needs it."
Dr. Arman Reza Chowdhury, Senior Consultant, Radiation Oncology, Evercare Hospital Dhaka, remarked: "As radiotherapy is a modern medical treatment, misconceptions about it can easily spread. However, these misunderstandings can be dispelled through the collective dissemination of accurate information. Patients need to be informed and reassured that radiotherapy is safe, effective, and life-saving."
