Railway hospitals now open to public 

All hospitals operated by Bangladesh Railway will now be open to the general public, in addition to railway staffs and passengers.

In this regard, Railways Ministry Secretary Md Fahimul Islam and Health Services Division Secretary Md Saidur Rahman signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Health Ministry's conference room at the Bangladesh Secretariat today.

Under the MoU, the hospitals will be jointly managed by the Railways Ministry and the Health Services Division. The general public, along with railway staff and passengers, will be able to receive medical care at these facilities.

To improve healthcare services, the Health Services Division will take over all movable assets of the hospitals and will appoint specialist doctors, as there are currently no specialist positions in railway hospitals. 

An Inventory Committee, with representatives from both ministries, will assess and recommend maintenance measures.

A central management committee, led by the Railways Secretary, will oversee the overall administration of the hospitals. 

Additionally, separate joint-management committees will be formed at each hospital, and their roles and responsibilities will be defined through a government order.

Railways Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Health and Family Welfare Adviser Nurjahan Begum and Special Assistant to the Health and Family Welfare Ministry Prof Sayedur Rahman among others, were present on the occasion.
