Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) remained alert against smuggling of Eid-centric rawhide and push-in along the border side by side with other law-enforcing activities in the district.

"We have enhanced surveillance and patrolling along the frontier areas to resist push-in strictly," Lt Col Hasibul Haque, Commanding Officer of BGB-1 Battalion, told a press conference at the Battalion Headquarter here this afternoon.

He said no incidence of push-in has happened through the Rajshahi border. "In addition to expediting patrolling and intelligence surveillance, we along with the local people are working together to resist all sorts of trafficking and smuggling," he added.

Commanding Officer Haque said there is a 76-kilometer frontline, where there are 16 border outposts and one check-post in the district. One more check-post is being carried out jointly. BGB patrolling has been enhanced in all the important points, he added.

He also said BGB members remained on highest alert to resist smuggling out of the rawhides of sacrificial animals after the Eid-ul-Azha.

He also told journalists that there are plenty of domestic animals eligible for sacrifice as per the demands. "We are adamant to resist the intrusion of animals from the neighboring country," he added.

The BGB members also remained proactive to law-enforcement activities so that the public in general can celebrate the Eid during the long Eid-vacation, he continued.
