Top criminal 'Chhota Sajjad' placed on 7-day remand

A Chattogram court today placed the city’s top criminal, Sajjad Hossain alias Chhota Sajjad, on a seven-day remand in a case filed with Chandgaon Police Station.
Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakkar Siddique passed the order after police produced him before the court, seeking a 14-day remand.
Earlier, a team of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested him from Bashundhara Shopping Complex in Dhaka on Saturday night. Later, he was brought to Chattogram.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) Mofiz Uddin said a total of 15 cases, including those related to murder, arms, and extortion, are pending against him at different police stations under the CMP.
Sajjad, notorious for his criminal activities in the Bayezid Bostami area, was also linked to the killings of three sand traders and a police shootout in December.
He was arrested earlier, but he had secured bail following the fall of the government last year.
